Founded shortly after World War I, the club has undergone numerous transformations and name changes, but has always maintained its status as a key point of local identity. The club's brightest moments are associated with the early nineties, when Dacia Unirea was a stable member of the elite rank of Romanian football (Liga I).
The Romanian football club entered history in 1993, achieving a historic success by reaching the final of the Romanian Cup. Although they were defeated by Universitatea Craiova at the time, that feat remains recorded as the club's golden era. Also, their sixth-place finish in the 1991/92 league season attests to a period when Braila was a must-visit and difficult away game for all Balkan giants.
The team plays its home games at the Municipal Stadium, a venue that has served for decades as the club's fortress and a gathering place for loyal supporters. Despite fluctuations in league standing in recent years, Dacia Unirea maintains its reputation as a „working-class club“ with a strong base of local fans who cherish rivalries with neighboring cities, primarily with the team Otelul Galati.
Today, the club focuses on stabilizing and developing young talents, striving to return to its former glory. Although currently facing economic and competitive challenges of the lower leagues, AFC Dacia Unirea Brăila remains an institution that proudly preserves the football heritage of eastern Romania, relying on a century-long tradition and an indomitable sporting spirit.
