He started playing football at just 4.5 years old at the Swedish club IF Nybro, where he still plays today, wearing jersey numbers 9 and 7. Yakov is characterized by exceptional strength in duels, toughness, and a dominant aerial game, while his coaches particularly praise him for his powerful shot and unmistakable leg power.
His main specialties in the game are set pieces. Yakov Yovanovski loves taking free kicks and corner kicks, constantly posing a threat to the opponent's goal. His quality and progress are confirmed by fantastic results at the prestigious Big Box Cup for three consecutive years wearing the IF Nybro jersey: in 2023, he won 1st place and the top scorer title; in 2024, he lifted the winning trophy again along with ranking among the top 3 scorers of the tournament; while in 2025, he scored the fastest goal in the entire competition.
In addition to tournament awards, in 2025 Yakov Yovanovski was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Fair Play Player of the Year at IF Nybro for his age group. His brilliant performances caught the attention of FC Kalmar – following the summer camp in 2025 and a training period at the club (November 2025/March 2026), Yakov Yovanovski received a new official invitation to rejoin FC Kalmar in November 2026.
