It was officially reconstituted in 1961 with football as its main sport, followed by the merger with clubs „Al-Jeel“ (1962) and „Nahdi Al-Aswad“ (1964). From 1964 to 2004, the club was named „Al-Taawun,“ after which it changed its name to Al Khor to more clearly highlight its location.
They are known by the nickname „Al-Fursan“ (The Knights), and their distinctive club colors, also found on their crest, are blue, yellow, and white. The football team competes in the elite tier of Qatari football: the Qatar Stars League. Through its youth movement and stable funding, the club has developed excellent infrastructure and programs for developing young athletes throughout its history.
