FK Mačva from Šabac was founded in 1919, which ranks it among the oldest football clubs in Serbia. From the very beginning, the club was a symbol of the city on the Sava and bore the epithet "provincial Uruguay" due to the attractive style of play in the first decades. Throughout its history, Macva was known for its fighting spirit and great support from the local audience.

Development through the decades
In the period between the two world wars, Mačva gained a reputation as one of the most important clubs outside of Belgrade. During the 20th century, she mostly performed in the lower leagues, but she retained her status as a symbol of Šabac sports. The club changed the rank of the competition several times from the national leagues to the First League of Serbia. The biggest breakthrough in recent history took place when Macva qualified for the Super League of Serbia and played there for several seasons, which was a historic success for the club and the city.

Coaches and staff
Throughout its history, the club was led by numerous well-known coaches from Šabac and Serbia. In the recent period, names such as Dragoljub Bekvalac and other experts who led the team in the Superliga stand out. The management of the club was traditionally tied to the local community and had strong support from the city.

Today's news
FK Mačva Šabac is playing today in the First League of Serbia (second rank of the competition). The club has a stable base of players, and the youth academy is still one of the most important segments of the work. The "Mačva" stadium in Šabac, with a capacity of about 7,000 seats, remains the central gathering place for fans and the sports community.
